Understanding Empty Cells in the Psychomatrix
No 4, 5, or 7 in your Psychomatrix? Find out why a cell is empty, how to check the calculation, and why missing digits are no personal shortcoming.
A dash in the grid can quickly feel like bad news. In the Psychomatrix, it is simply a neutral calculation result: that cell’s digit does not appear among the numbers used. Before drawing conclusions about yourself, it’s worth checking how the calculation was done.
Why is a cell empty?
NOVA counts the digits 1 to 9 from your date of birth and the working numbers A, B, C, and D. Zero is not entered in a cell. If, for example, there is no 4 in this set of numbers, cell 4 shows a dash.
In the example 15.03.1990, the working numbers are 28, 10, 26, and 8. Neither the date nor these numbers contain a 4 or a 7, so both cells remain empty. You can check this without reading an interpretation.
No 4 doesn’t mean poor health
Some traditional tables associate 4 with the body or foundation. But the frequency of a digit in your date of birth does not measure your physical condition. An empty cell is not a medical finding. NOVA uses the theme of foundation as a prompt to reflect on your daily life, structure, and habits.
If you’d like to think about this, try a concrete question: What small routine could make my day more pleasant? You don’t need a claim about supposed inborn weaknesses.
No 5 doesn’t mean a lack of logic
The traditional association of 5 with thinking or intuition can prompt reflection. It doesn’t say whether you can think logically. People with an empty cell also make considered decisions and learn from experience.
Rather than comparing yourself with a label, you could look at how you make decisions: What information did I use? When was my gut feeling helpful? What would I do differently next time?
No 7 doesn’t mean a lack of luck
Some interpretations associate 7 with luck or opportunities. Its absence does not predict a run of bad luck or explain a past setback. How you respond to an opportunity depends on more than one digit.
A question for reflection might be: What opportunity did I recently take, and which one did I consciously pass up? Either could have been a good decision for you.
What to check if the result surprises you
- Check the day, month, and year. Entering the date in a different format changes the calculation.
- Compare the four working numbers, not just the finished grid.
- Check how the calculator handles days 1 to 9 and negative intermediate values.
- Distinguish a digit that is actually missing from an interpretation that doesn’t fit you.

Is an empty cell a bad rating? +
No. It shows zero occurrences of a digit in this calculation, not an assessment of you.
Can I fill an empty cell by spelling something differently? +
The Psychomatrix is calculated from your date of birth, not your name. Changing your name does not change this grid.
Why does another calculator show fewer empty cells? +
It may use different working numbers or counting rules. Compare the date you entered and the intermediate values A, B, C, and D.
